Michelin 2012 Motorbike Tyres
Tyre manufacturer Michelin have announced the introduction of three new motorcycle tyre ranges to be released in 2012. These track-oriented tyres will replace the current line-up for slick and rain conditions, as well as providing an improved racing Power tyre.
First up in the 2012 track portfolio, we have the Power Cup, a tyre developed to provide excellent grip while cornering and acceleration, leading to faster lap times than the current equivalent, the Power One Competition. The front tyre allows for increased stability, progressive responsiveness, faster braking and better manoeuvrability. The rear tyre delivers great grip essential for cornering, without losing its longevity.
Michelin explain: “[The Power Cup] delivers the performance balance that is characteristic of all Michelin tyres, offering a combination of easy handling, safety (thanks to its superior grip) and high total mileage.”
For wet tracks, the new Power Slick and Power Rain tyres will provide ease of handling and increased safety, with a specially developed ‘fountain’ tread design which quickly disperses water from the surface of the tyre. This allows for better grip and traction, and therefore speed.
The Power Cup is due to be released in January next year, with the Power Slick and Power Rain following in May.
