Premium vs Cheap Tyres
When you get a choice of tyres and the difference between the premium tyres and the cheap tyres is around £100 is it worth paying the difference? The answer would depend on many factors, however it is important to remember that tyres are the only part of the car that touch the road! So are cheap tyres worth the saving?
Various studies have shown that cheap tyres online especially tyres from China are of a poorer quality than premium tyres. At the end of 2012 new tyre rules will ultimately make these tyres illegal. UK tyres must, by the end of 2012 have a label to show their noise rating along with their rolling resistance. Some of the cheap tyres have been shown to take up to eight metres more to stop under wet conditions! Therefore the answer is simple. If you are buying car tyres for a performance car or 4×4 tyres then the premium option should be a serious consideration if your budget allows. On the smaller and lower powered vehicles then a budget or mid range tyre might suit. Cheap Van tyres are probably a false economy as the premium manufacturers offer tyres that are harder wearing and more fuel efficient.
