Kit Car Tyres
Kit cars are not just for bearded old men who want to convert an old Metro into something more interesting. Loads of really great kit cars have been created from the old Citroen 2CV, just do not forget to change the car tyres as the 2CV had the equivalent to four bike tyres!
There are so many varieties of kit cars – for example there is a kit to change a Chrysler into a Rolls Royce! Imagine the looks that your neighbours would give you if you turned up in what looks like a Rolls Royce. There is also a kit that will turn an old model MR2 into a Ferrari which will definitely add the wow factor to your drive without having to win the lottery. However if you are thinking of owning one of these cool machines you will need a lot of time on your hands and a reasonable budget both for the project and a donor vehicle. Once the kit is complete the newly created vehicle will need to be registered. This process will have to be completed at your local DVLA office.
If you have not got the time to build your very own kit car (or you think spending that much time in the garage may lead to divorce!) then the second hand market has plenty of choice. We recently spotted a converted Beetle that had been restyled into a Porsche 911 convertible. This vehicle was only £2,500, which is a bargain as the real car would cost you in excess of £20,000. There are some things to be aware of however. Insurance can be awkward as you will need to find a specialist insurer. Once you have jumped though all the hoops of registration and insurance you can get out and enjoy your new pride and joy!
