Red Bull’s Racing History
Red Bull is a high energy that ‘gives you wings’. This iconic drinks brand is now the most popular energy drink in the world! Selling around 3 billion cans of Red Bull every year. Not bad going considering the drink has only been around for 25 years.
Red Bull’s success is without doubt due to its clever advertising marketing strategy. Red Bull sponsor a wide range of high performance sports, with their most successful and widely known being their F1 team. 2011 saw Red Bull Racing really take off, with Sebastian Vettel winning the drivers’ championship and Red Bull winning the constructors’ championship. All the F1 teams had the challenge of working with Pirelli, a premium car tyres manufacturer. Sebastian Vettel was the only driver to visit Pirelli prior to the F1 season. I think this really shows what makes him a champion driver!
Red Bull took over from Jaguar Racing, a Ford owned team in 2004. Based in Milton Keynes the original racing team was owned by the famous driver Jackie Stewart who started the team in 1997. Jackie and his son Paul ran the team for just two years and sold the team on to Ford in 1999. It was Ford’s decision to re-brand the team to help its Jaguar brand. Jaguar had an image of vehicles for the older customer and wanted to re-focus its efforts to win some much needed younger blood amongst its customer base.
