World Rally Championship 2012
The World Rally Championship has seen its first race in Monte Carlo. Although Sebastien Loeb won the rally he was given a run for his money with Ford’s newly signed driver Petter Solberg achieving his personal best for the first race of the season. Petter has never achieved higher than fifth position in the first race of the season prior to this event! Petter is driving a Ford Fiesta RS WRC which is already proving to be a hit on the WRC stage, having had very little time to even get to know and practice in his new car before having to drive it flat out over the WRC stage in Monte Carlo. These vehicles really are tough and have to deal with all types of terrain. The car tyres are specially chosen to cope with the tough environment and even most 4×4 tyres would not have to put up with this much abuse!
The rest of the 2012 calendar is looking interesting with the next rally being hosted in Sweden on the 9th -12th of February. Will we see Sebastien ruling all the stages in the next rally? With some tougher stages on the agenda we will have to keep a look out for Petter to see how he gets on in his super fast Fiesta RS WRC.
