Bridgestone is to Help to Support Acorns Children’s Hospice 2012
Bridgestone, the manufacture of premium car tyres has agreed to support Acorn. The Midlands based child hospice which was established in 1988 is an important support to families. This support is for children that have life limiting or life threatening illness and sadly are not expected to reach adulthood.
However sad the situation is, Acorn is there to make the valuable time these children have the best possible. Acorn also offer a full support service to help the whole family during the hardest time of their lives. It costs eight million pounds a year to support the families, which works out to be £750 for each child within their care. The majority of services provided by Acorn are are funded by fund raising and the local community.
The support from Bridgestone’s staff who will be hosting several fundraising events during the year will be raised by running ‘Dress Down Fridays’ once a month in aid of the hospice. Last year Bridgestone team raised over £5,000 and they are hoping to increase this significantly for 2012. The whole of the team are on board with this and really want to help Acorn with the incredible work that they do for the children and families touched by illness.
