Indonesian Drivers Sabotaged Every Day by Ruthless Tyre Repairmen
The daily grind is tough enough, but in Indonesia they have even more problems on the commute to work. Tyre repairmen have been deliberately puncturing car tyres by littering the roads with nails and other sharp objects. They then charge double the normal cost of a repair and the people have no choice but to go ahead with the work. Some people are even sold really cheap tyres at astronomical prices. This practise has been ongoing for years and the police have been almost powerless against this crime.
Surprisingly the Indonesian people have come up with an unusual solution to the problem. Volunteers give their time for no charge and literally sweep the streets with high powered magnets collecting the unwanted nails. This is obviously a dangerous job walking up and down the road with the traffic flowing all around but for no pay! They must be mad! The ‘Nails wipe out community’ have been very successful in their nail clear up operation even though they have been threatened with their lives for clearing the nails. They have cleared nearly 500 kg of nails from the roads which is the equivalent of a large cow. They also have to work every day to keep up the work clearing on average 4 – 5 kg of nails every day.
The Indonesian tyre repairmen are earning approximately ten times the average wage by this sharp practice. Sadly it looks like the war on the nails will continue for many years to come. If you have been unfortunate enough to have a nail puncture on one of your car tyres recently then look no further than Grippy to replace them.
