Car Technology
Car technology has improved just about every aspect of driving over the years. The last ten to twenty years has seen a huge change in car tech. It was not that long ago that we had to wind down our own windows, put the key in the lock for each door and you needed to be Popeye just to move the steering wheel in a car park! Car entertainment systems have also changed drastically over the years from cassette players on to mini discs and now to systems that can connect to the net.
So what will the future bring? Well we have already seen in production airless car tyres. This tyre can withstand a lot more than a traditional tyre and we are more likely to see this enter the military market first. Driverless cars are on trial as we speak by several manufacturers. Nevada has become the first state to change the rules specifically for driverless cars! Every driverless car must be fitted with a black box device to record the actions of the vehicle. This technology looks set to be with us within the next five to ten years. Ford has worked with Microsoft to produce their next in car communications system. This system features a fully voice controlled SMS system as well as the now standard mobile phone system.
There are now cars that rival the Knightrider car for its conversation skills (satnav and voice control telephones), and ability to drive themselves, so what’s next? Will we see Back To The Future style hovercars above the roads soon?!
