China Focusing On Green Tyre Output
The chairman of the China Rubber Industry Association has announced China’s new plans around so called ‘green tyres’. They aim for at least half of the tyre makers in China to be able to manufacturer fuel-efficient tyres by the end of December 2015. Not only that, the hope is that by then the output of those tyre manufacturers who do have that capability will be 50 per cent green tyres.
The plans are intended to include certain international regulations such as the EU tyre label that is being implemented here this year, as well as beginning to address China’s environmental issues and its need to save energy. There will be state subsidies available for some tyre manufacturers in order to help them meet these goals.
The new plan will be implemented in stages, beginning with some voluntary standards and progressing towards mandatory standards. The intention is also to include both the manufacturing process and the tyres themselves in their drive to be greener.
