Michelin Contest On Social Media
Michelin tyre manufacturer is running a road safety competition through Facebook. The competition is aimed at young drivers which is the primary reason for using Facebook; 80 per cent of Europeans between 16 and 24 years old are regular users of social media. However, they are sadly also more frequent victims of road accidents being twice as likely to be involved as older and more experienced drivers.
The competition works via a game which invites young drivers or learner drivers to travel with a virtual character called Tom. Together they travel through the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Spain. During each step of the journey the participants will need to answer questions, or play a game to do with road safety. This will cover such things as roads signs, driving laws, anticipating hazards, maintaining vigilance, respecting speed limits and adjusting to weather conditions.
The player who gets the highest score in each country will be awarded a symbolic driver’s license for that country, and at the end a random draw will choose the winner who will win a new Citroen C1. The ideal behind the game is that it will teach young drivers the rules of the road in their own country as well as in other European countries.
