Tyre Testing To Prepare For the EU Tyre Labelling
Yes, it’s another post about tyre labelling! As the tyre manufacturers will very shortly be producing and delivering tyres with the labels affixed, there has been a lot of tyre testing going on behind the scenes. Part of the new regulation requires each tyre manufacturer to test their own tyres for the new gradings, following the strictly defined EU testing procedures.
Goodyear Dunlop have managed to test 1200 Goodyear tyres and 1000 Dunlop tyres over the last year. They also plan to launch informative campaigns as well as integrate the label into its point of sale marketing.
While they were testing the tyres for the EU labelling, Dunlop also took the opportunity to double check many of the 50 criteria that they usually base their tyre tests on. These criteria includes dry braking, aquaplaning, cornering, dry and wet grip, and handling. They obviously intend to support the new EU tyre labels, but also plan to continue to use those criteria to keep their customers fully informed about the tyres.
