What Is The Ultimate Supercar?
Michelin recently held a poll of its Facebook followers to determine the ultimate supercar! Like most car lovers/petrolheads, I do love a supercar. I may never be able to afford to own one, let alone afford services and replacement high performance tyres, but I can dream!
First Michelin asked its followers to vote for their favourite 1980s supercar, then their favourite 1990s one, and finally the best from the 2000s. This was followed up with a poll to determine the best of the three finalists. So who won?!
The favourite 1980s supercar was the Porsche 959 which beat the Ferrari F40 and the Lamborghini Countach. Personally I think I’d have gone for the Ferrari F40, but that’s just me. In the 1990s the Porsche 993 GT2 and the Bugatti EB110 were thoroughly beaten by the McLaren F1. I definitely agree with that – I can still remember the first time I saw the McLaren F1 on Top Gear (way back in the 90s!), it was love at first sight! Finally, the Bugatti Veyron beat the Ascari KZ-1 and the Koenigsegg CCX in the 2000s category.
The overall winner was the McLaren F1! Do you agree? Which cars would you have voted for? Or are there other supercars that you think are superior?
