Continental’s Anti-Road Rage Campaign
It is worrying that more and more aggression is being seen on our roads. A survey recently commissioned by Continental tyres revealed that over five million motorists in Great Britain have climbed out of their car with the express purpose of confronting another road user. Road rage is not something we can ignore, and Continental Tyres are helping to combat it with their ‘Courtesy Campaign’.
The idea is to encourage motorists to be calm and considerate while driving, just as they would be if they bumped into another pedestrian while walking. It is all too easy to assume the worst of other motorists, but it is up to you how you react. Choose not to let things get to you, and just continue driving safely. After all, everyone makes mistakes (yes, even you!). Waving in thanks to other drivers for letting you past, or as an apology for a mistake you have made doesn’t take much effort, but can diffuse situations before they escalate.
Even if all you do is mutter about another driver, road rage does you no favours at all. It distracts you from the road and puts you at greater risk of being involved in an accident. The aggression you feel also raises your blood pressure which is not good for your overall health!
