Forecourt Attendants From Shell
It has been a long time since we have had forecourt attendants at petrol stations in the United Kingdom, but if you have done any driving abroad, you may have been lucky enough to experience this service as there are some places that still do it. What do forecourt attendants do? They fill your car with fuel for you, and they can also carry out some basic car maintenance such as checking fluid levels and checking tyres.
You may be able to experience this closer to home soon as Shell UK has already announced that it is reintroducing forecourt attendants at 300 of its petrol stations by the end of this summer. They even anticipate increasing this to 600 by the middle of next year. This is a significant portion of their 1000 petrol stations in the UK. The staff will be trained in basic car maintenance by the AA, so you can trust that they know what they’re doing!
The intention is that there will be at least one attendant available for 6 – 8 hours during the day, every day of the week. The move has been welcomed by various motoring groups as sadly, there are many drivers who don’t know how to check their own fluid levels or the pressure of their car tyres.
