Fuel From Organic Waste
In part because of the upcoming EU tyre labelling laws, manufacturers of car tyres have joined the rest of the motoring industry in working to improve the green credentials of their products. There is also a variety of electric, hybrid cars now on our roads, but what about the fuel that goes into most of our cars? One UK company has been working to produce an environmentally friendly fuel from organic waste.
Gazasia has been working to develop a bio-fuel from organic waste products in landfill. They are shortly beginning operations in the Philippines, but before too long, your local landfill site could also be contributing to the fuel you put in your car. Effectively, it will be your own rubbish and organic waste that is powering your car!
Liquid biomethane is a carbon neutral, sustainable, and yet high quality vehicle fuel. It is produced by the company using the natural gas, methane, produced from the organic waste that is piled high in landfill sites. This natural gas is cleaned and refined into liquid biomethane. This is good for the environment because:
- it is a clean fuel, and
- it reduces the amount of damaging gases that are released into the air by the organic waste in landfill.
