European Tyre Manufacturers In 2011
2011 was a pretty good year for European tyre manufacturers; a massive 4.8 million tonnes of tyres were manufactured in Europe which was almost a quarter of the total worldwide. Production was 6.6% higher than the previous year, a level of growth which is reassuring in the current economic climate.
Replacement market sales in Europe came to 301.7 million units during 2011, the sector also demonstrating an increase over 2010. Total turnover in the industry was also 8% higher than the previous years at 47 billion euros, and 71.2 million tyres were exported, an increase of 11.5% on 2011’s figures.
While the economy in general seems to remain a little uncertain, the tyre industry so far seems to be performing well, and demonstrating year on year growth. Perhaps this is partly due to new technologies coming forward, expanding the range of tyres available. Green or eco tyres are also becoming more popular amongst consumers.
