Fuel Costs Affecting Drivers’ Mileage
Fuel costs keep getting higher, and even the most fuel efficient car tyres can only save you so much, so millions of UK motorists are not only driving more economically, they are also attempting to drive less miles. As well as saving individual drivers money, this will also be making our roads safer and lessening the impact of cars on the environment.
Over a third of motorists are trying to avoid driving behaviours that consume more fuel such as accelerating or braking sharply, while almost half are actually cutting back on the number of journeys they use their car for. Many are choosing public transport over their own car, and some drivers are even choosing to sell their car and buy a more economical model.
The statistics released by the Department of Transport confirms that road traffic levels in the second quarter of the year were lower than the same time period in the previous year. These changes will be saving drivers money, making roads safer and reducing harmful greenhouse emissions…maybe fuel stations will even be encouraged to lower their prices!
