Yet More Cases Of Illegal Tyre Dumping
As we have mentioned before, it is a legal requirement that all tyres are recycled or reused or repurposed. No tyres are allowed into landfill. That obviously extends to people illegally dumping car tyres anywhere. Despite that, police have discovered around 60 car tyres dumped near a beauty spot on the Isle of Man.
Fly tipping on this scale is very rare on the Isle of Man, particularly as it is a small island and the tyres must have been transported on a large vehicle. The tyres had been dumped in two piles on either side of Conrhenny Road in the north of Douglas.
When you have your car tyres replaced, whether it is at a national network of garages, your local garage, or a mobile tyre fitting service, part of the price you pay will be to cover the costs of tyre disposal in an ethical, environmentally friendly manner. There should be no need to desecrate our countryside, and potentially damage our environment by breaking the law and dumping the tyres in a quiet spot. Tyres do not break down or decompose like most other household waste, so it is our responsibility to ensure they are disposed of safely.
