Michelin is the Official Tyre Supplier for new FIA Formula E Championship
Michelin as been announced as official tyre supplier for the new FIA Formula E Championship – providing tyres for electric cars to compete in street circuit races across the world.
Michelin, who withdrew from traditional F1 in 2006, will supply racing tyres for each car in the Formula E Championship which expects to include 20 cars in 10 teams for the 2014 races. The Drayson Racing team from Great Britain have already shown interest in competing, along with China Racing.
The FIA has stated that Beijing, Buenos Aires, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Patruajava, Rio de Janeiro and Rome will host the Formula E races and more details will be released in September.

Michelin has been “seeking to introduce innovations into […] tyres in order to assure a more efficient and durable mobility.” The FIA Michelin tyres and the Formula E Championship aim to focus on high performance energy-efficient vehicles combined with modern urban settings to demonstrate “the very best of [Michelin’s] technological know-how.”
