The New Ford Mini People Carrier
The new Ford B-Max has been long awaited into the Ford brand. The B-Max replaced the very dated Ford Fusion which surprisingly sold in quite large volumes! Even Ford themselves were very surprised by the success of the outgoing model. The Fusion whilst arguably not the prettiest of cars was certainly practical. With a huge boot and cleverly designed seats in the back allowing the seats to fold and even roll over out of the way it was extremely functional for a small car. In fact the Fusion was no bigger in size than a three door Ford Fiesta even though it looked and felt a lot bigger.
Since Ford launched the new Fiesta back in 2009 it has strengthened the brand. In fact many Ford dealers would have been in a lot of trouble had the Fiesta not arrived on the scene and boosted profits. The Fusion was the only car left which had not been designed with Ford’s Kinetic energy designs. The idea was for the designers to achieve energy in motion which means they design the lines of the vehicle to look like the car is poised ready to go. This is the design stance which was rolled out across the range and has been successful.
The B-Max was cleverly launched in the UK around the same time as the olympics and the T.V adverts feature a man diving through the car! This was to show you that they had designed the new car with no centre pillar. This design gives the car a greater degree of practicality. The doors have been fitted with the pillars for safety and the rear doors slide open, which is a fantastic option when you have small children and even smaller parking spaces! The B-Max is kitted out with a whole load of innovative technology. Sync can play music directly from your i-pod using bluetooth technology it can also read your text messages to you so that you are not tempted to read it from the phone whilst driving.
Ford have been working hard to reduce emissions and fuel costs in their vehicles. The new B-Max has the new 1.0 Ecoboost engine available and if you are looking for a city vehicle that is capable of over 40 miles to the gallon around town then the B-Max is for you. The extra urban figures are surprising too with an acclaimed 65.7 miles to the gallon on a run.
As smaller version of the C-Max, the all new B-Max is a great little town car and well worth considering.
