Classic Car Tyres
Classic cars are a huge passion for many people in the UK, and there are many magazines that specialise on this hot topic. Classic car rallies are arranged so that all the drivers can show off their pride and joy. However, parts for these old cars can be difficult to obtain as many of the collectable cars of the past were made by manufacturers that have gone bust over the years.
Classic car tyres are made specifically for these precious old vehicles by some of the main tyre makers; Michelin, Firestone, Universal, Avon and Dunlop to name but a few. These UK tyres are made specially for the cars of yesterday, but the good news is the tyres have today’s technology! Most classic car tyres are extremely skinny, not far off a bike tyre. This profile of tyre does not help with the cars handling or traction. With water dispersement a huge problem of the past, the old tyres would aquaplane from the slightest contact with standing water. The newer tyre technology allows the water to be dispersed from the tyre tread block technology and with this newer tyre tread block technology comes greater handling. Although these cars were not designed for today’s high speeds and are generally driven with the respect they deserve, the additional technology will certainly help keep these cars and their drivers safe.
