Michelin Receives Safety Award
Michelin tyres have received the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award at the inaugural Decade of Action for Road Safety Policy & Donor Forum held in new York on the 2nd May. Michelin’s practices in both product development and care of its own employees were commented on, as well as its corporate commitment to community safety and international programs within the field of road safety innovation.
Michelin feels that its focus on performance goes hand in hand with its commitment to improving road safety, and this ties in with one of the company’s core values: respect for people. The company promote safer driving practices within the company, as well as more efficient travel management. This policy has resulted in the group’s car fleet’s accident rate more than halving in the last five years.
The company also run a variety of external road safety programmes in the countries it operates, often focusing on young people, cyclists and pedestrians.
