Continental Tyres
Continental have always been a big name in tyres, with a history dating back to 1871, providing tyres for carriages and bicycles. They were the first tyre company to produce a car tyre with patterned tread and provided Aeroplan material used on the first flight across the English Channel.
In the 90s, Continental produced the ISAD (Integrated Starter Alternator Damper) – technology that replaces a car’s starter and generator with a single unit and lowers fuel consumption. And in 2003, Conti revealed the ContiSportContact 2 Vmax – the very first tyre approved for speeds up to 224mph (for when you’re really late for the school run)…
Continental have also had a close relationship with football, including the UEFA Champion’s League and have been official sponsors of the FIFA World Cup since 2006. Their ContiSportContact tyre range reflects the manoeuvrability needed in sport as well as on the road, using asymmetric tread pattern designs to provide shorter breaking distances, improved handling and precise steering, as well as excellent grip in wet and dry conditions. Oh, and these tyres play football when you’re not looking, too:
